After the success of his Girls Don’t Cry Dunk, we tapped Japanese artist Verdy for a second collaboration with his skateboarding and punk rock inspired Wasted Youth label. The black denim and leather patchwork upper combined with metallic d-rings and jagged white and red stitching serve as a nod to his customized outfits he wore while raging at punk shows as a teen.
As the exterior details pull from his preferred musical genre of his youth, the shoe’s tooling—a Zoom Air unit in the heel and padded tongue—speaks to the functional needs of skateboarders.
And if Verdy’s design intent and ethos behind Wasted Youth Dunk Pro Low isn’t clear enough, he offers these recommendations/warnings emblazoned across the insoles, “No Thank You I Don’t Need Your Support” and “Don’t Bother Me Anymore.” Either works for us!”
The Wasted Youth Dunk Low will be available starting April 1 from Wasted Youth, select skate shops April 3, and SNKRS April 6th.
