Born in Osaka, Japan designer and artist Verdy has used his brands Wasted Youth and Girls Don’t Cry as a vehicle to blend the iconography and sounds of his teens with original illustrations and vivid colors. For his third collaboration with Nike SB, he transforms the Dunk’s silhouette with a one-to-one material and color interpretation inspired by his popular Visty Plush Doll.
Offering a playful take on a legendary shoe, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Verdy uses textured corduroy overlays and plush fur underlays to realize his fuzzy design concept and homage to the original Visty character and stuffy. Along with Verdy’s pastel hues and unique materials, Verdy created custom typography for the Dunk’s heel logos, as well as a loose cartoon take on the Visty character on both the tongue label and sockliner, completing the Dunk’s colorful and nostalgic makeover.
